Can I send in a knife I already own to the custom shop for a blade upgrade,or do I have to order a new one from the shop with the blade steel I want? Thanks.

Kind of curious about this myself regarding the Idaho shop.

Blade upgrades used to be possible, I know. I have a plain-Jane 110 into which I had ATS-34 installed.

Have an older finger-grooved 110 that I like the looks of (nice wood scales). Was thinking about sending it in for an upgrade if possible. It has the old 425M in it--probably the worst of Buck steels, no?

What I'm gong to do is call Buck @ 1-800-326-2825. I have a 110 that I want the BG-42 blade on...I'll post what info I get here or you can call and get the info for yourselves...

Chickentrax any updates on your project 110?

Preston

I just got off the phone with the nice people at Buck, for blade upgrade to BG-42 is $35. They are checking to see if they have the blade in stock. The number above with ext. 219 or 220 connects to Customer Service, they handle the blade upgrades not the Custom Shop. P

Am I hearing this right? I buy a Buck 110 at Walmart for $23, then send it to Buck with a check for $35 and it comes back with a BG42 blade? $58 total cost? Holy Smokes.

Carl64, that's the way I understand it...you ship it to them with check or MO for $35 and they put the upgraded blade on and ship it back...I'm waiting now to here if they have them in stock. Best, Preston

I did it earlier this year, bought a 110 with a broken tip on the blade for 15.00 sent it in with a check for 35.00 and got back a ATS-34 blade total 50.00.

Great deal.

Muskrat,
I would recommend Leroy Remer for inlay replacement and similar type work. There is a thread going with his contact info. He is a custom maker who used to work in the old Buck Custom Shop and he does outstanding work.

Yeah, it was $35 when I had it done. $30 for the blade, $5 shipping if I recall correctly.

I may send that finger-groove 110 in this week for the blade upgrade.

Thanks for the info folks.

Just curious, do they also send you back your old blade? I have a 560 I would like to send in now that you guys started this thread but I think I might kind of like my old blade back too, not sure why I guess.

Joe

I didn't get the old blade back. Actually, in my case, it was a brand new 420HC blade.

Thanks for the info guys.I have a 560 also that I would like a bg-42 blade for.Sounds like it would be a great deal.:D
