If I send in a 110 for the BG42 blade replacement, can I have them put on a more acute edge bevel when they put the blade on or will I need to do this myself when it ships back?
 
They are real accommodating there at Buck:)...but I'd expect that unless the Edge 2000(you can see it on their website) is what you want you would have to do it yourself. JMHO, Preston
 
My understanding, based on a recent post from Mr. Joe H., is that they are out of BG-42 at this time.
 
I haven't ever read here where Buck will sharpen an edge to user specifications.

If you have a user, I would think you would want your own edge on it. No two people sharpen one just alike. Much easier for you to maintain once you get your edge on one.
 
I'm just not looking forward to re-profiling a BG42 blade on a fine stone, which is all I currently have. Hopefully by the time I get the knife I'll have something in lower grit. But you're right, even if they'd do this for me they might not take it down enough for my liking or something.
 
I just want something long, wide, flat, low grit and cheap. Would send some dollars to someone if they have some extra low grit stones they could ship out. Anything beats reprofiling knives on butchers steels and fine stones. :~\
