Question...

I realize it's not open at this time, but could someone give me the low down on just what the Custom Shoppe can do? Is it only for 110's? Was there a web page or catalog that detailed all the options available? Or did you work directly with the Shoppe to design the knife you wanted?

Thanks,

-Mike

Mike:

The Custom Shoppe enables you to "build" a custom Buck 110 folding hunter. The shoppe offers choice of:

Blade steel
Blade finish
Scale materials
Bolsters (nickel silver or brass)
Rivets or no rivets
Engraving options

Here is the link:

Go ahead and click on "Create a custom 110 Folding Hunter" to get started. As you make your choices, a color illustration of your knife evolves to show what the knife will look like.

We are all hoping the shoppe reopens ASAP.

I have a custom 110 with BG-42 steel, oak scales, and brass bolsters and rivets, and it is a beauty. I plan to get several more variations.

I've read of forumites who have had steel upgrades to their 112s, but I don't know how that is arranged.

A short while ago, Buck produced a small run of 112 blades in BG-42, thanks to the effort of Joe Houser, Buck forums moderator and their Director of Consumer Relations. All you had to do was e-mail him for contact info, send him a 112 and he would arrange the swap. Cost then was $35. I had two done and they were fine. Last I heard, there was still a few available, but I don't think they're ready to do much custom work yet.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I had come across the Custom Shoppe web page at the Buck Knives web site but (duh) never thought to click and follow the link - probably because I figured it wouldn't work knowing the Shoppe is currently closed.

Let's keep hoping for a speedy re-opening.

BTW ......... I'm still on my "no beets" hunger strike. I won't eat a single beet until PCKS starts offering a custom 112! :grumpy:
