Hey Guys,

I am looking to get my grandfather a new pocket knife for his birthday and would like to get him something you can't just buy off the shelf. Are there still any Custom knife makers that make slip-joints?

Yes, there are still custom makers, many have dedicated threads on this site. How far off is his birthday? Many makers have long wait times so you may want to check the Exchange for makers (names in Orange) who post their knives there or in the traditional or custom section for second hand ones. There are also dealers (names in Green) here with custom knives in stock.

I am aware of how the forum and exchange system works, was curious if there were any who only make the older style knives. I've spent a fair enough time in the exchange but haven't found any full custom slip joints

There are so many custom makers for slip joints. Quite a few and many of them are very affordable compared to custom modern folders, yet still have the same quality. T.A. Davison, kc custom…. and a whole lot more. I think I have about 5 or 6 just in my contacts on my phone. Check the knife dealers as some also will have some different makers in stock.

Go to Knifemakers For Sale Area there are a few catagories in that area

Here's a link to KnifeMaker's Market: Knives & More for Sale -> For Sale: Folders. Several custom slipjoints have been posted in the last week.

Look through some of the threads in the link above. You can check there often. I do and always too late. They sell quick. I hope to one day nad a T A Davison with some wood scales and spear point blade.

thanks for the help guys, will definitely check some of these out. i was in the for sale by individual/dealt as well as the old timey folder and fixed blade section

There is a nice custom in the Knife Exchange for sale by Individuals, right now .Its been there for a few days.Muskrat pattern

I am now closing the thread as I feel you now have all the answers you need. And we don't need this to become a sales thread.
