I’ve lost interest in modern tactical folders as of late. I need to spend more time in the woods also. I’ve always appreciated traditional type gear with a rustic fair. Lately I’ve been looking for a custom two blade slipjoint trapper. I like amber, bone and stag. I do appreciate modern steels like Cpm 154. Any recommendations on makers of these traditional folders would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Look up Kabisch Custom Knives. My buddy picked up a few. INCREDIBLE!! I'm too loyal to my GEC23 for deer season but as soon as I decide I'm going to use something else its going to be a Kabisch. I believe they are CPM154 and my God the trappers are so damn nice. The action is awesome. Trust me dude.

Case/bose has made a couple of different 2 blade trappers. The wharncliff trapper is one of the most useful patterns there is. They aren’t made any longer but not too hard to find in 2 different jigged bones.

As far as custom. Mr Jim Dunlap makes one hell of a knife for the price. It’s a little wait, but it’s very worth it. There are plenty makers who make a good knife but he’s about my favorite for what you seek. Andy Fannin makes one heck of a knife also, but he only makes single blades.

Thank you very much! I just saw this, so sorry I'm a bit late, but I appreciate the good words!

You're very welcome! I didn't know you were on BF or I would have tagged you. My buddy Evan bought several knives from you a while back . Absolutely beautiful. I wouldnt hesistate to use one if your knives and hard. I've told several people about your work. I freaking love the large single Spey blade trappers.

Yep, I'm more of a lurker on here than a poster!haha Yes, I know Evan...he bought a couple of mine at Blade Texas last year and then another one a couple weeks later that I remember, maybe more than that. Yes, the spey blade trapper is one of my favorites too...just did one in damascus and mammoth for a customer down in San Antonio. (hardest knife i've ever had to let go of!!haha)

Moki makes a Ruple designed single blade trapper in VG10 and Culpepper covers of 2 kinds of stag and bone. I like mine. It’s not a custom though.
