I have been looking for a good quality slip-joint Trapper or Moose for quite a while. I decided I wanted to get a custom and finally have the money, But I can't seem to find any makers. The ones I have found have 3 year backlogs or the knives are 800 bucks. Is there any middle ground you guys know of. I just want to try and find a folder for 3-400 bucks with a year or less wait. Does this maker exist. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

You may ask Pat Randall, his username here is PCRKnives.

Found some interesting folders on his website www.patrickknives.com and ordered a very nice one 1 or 2 weeks ago. It`s in the making already.:D

BTW very good communications with Pat!:thumbup:
Seems to be a very nice guy! :D

Todd A Davison!

I haven't seen a trapper on his site, but he is an amazing knifemaker. I am currently waiting for knife. I placed my order a week or so ago and should have it in two weeks or less. He's fast and does amazing work.

Lots of folks on here have TAD's knives. Great value and great knives.

Good luck,
Brett

Yup, what he said. :)

Those Davison knives sure look nice! I love the wharnnies. I guess this is as good a time as any to order a custom slippie. After all, rent and food aren't all that important. :)

TAD, Ken Erickson, Joe Allen, Mike Alsdorf come to mind. Not sure if they all make the patterns you want, but you can check. Prices and wait times should all be within your limits.

You can check out Hiroaki Ohta too. Some of his knives will extend into the $400-500 range, but I think his work is an excellent value. I believe Plaza Cutlery has a few pieces of his currently on site and Colordao Custom Knife Gallery may have a few as well.

What kind of price range are we talking for one of Todd Davison's slipjoints? They are some great looking knives.

That would depend on what kind of knife you would like made.
Send me a private email and I will see what I can do for you?
The way you guy's are going, I'm going to be 5 years behind?:)
There are some really good slip joint makers out there, other than myself?
Your choice JOAT.

Thanks for the input ya all. much appreciated.

Hey thanks for all the information guys. I have sent 4 or so emails and I'll see what happens. I will try and keep you guys posted as to who and what I order. Thanks again for the information it's much appreciated.

Just got my first TAD custom and it is AMAZING. Seriously, this guy has it down. I have lived with it for two days now and have cut everything from rope, to steak and it's just a rock solid as they come.

Thanks again Todd!!!!

I think it's a good idea to get a TAD knife while you still can. I have one of his and it is amazing. If you wait too long you will have to wait 5 years and pay $800. Todds gonig to up there with Bose pretty soon. Todd gives you a lot of knife for the money.
