Are there any custom slipjoint makers that use regular carbon steel (not damascus) for their blades? I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger on a custom slippy yet, but I am doing my research and am looking for the right maker. I've never seen a carbon bladed custom slipjoint knife, the closest was an A2 Tony Bose custom.

PJ Tomes has a website for a forged clip blade trapper. Very reasonable price and great knife. I think the carbon blade is 52100 steel. I own one and I love it. It took PJ about 2 months to make mine.

Ken Erickson makes them with 0-1,Bailey Bradshaw,Ray Kirk, come to mind,as well.

One of Ray Kirk's custom Scagel repros are a great deal in my opinion. Mine is in snake wood with titanium liners and a 52100 blade that is a super duty user.

Plenty w/D-2,too...

The knife in my avatar... my first tbose knife... has acid etched A2 blades. I never carry or use it, so its held up well. :D I do have a couple other boses in A2 that I do carry and use, and they have held up well. The acid etch patina they put on really makes a difference. I have other A2 knives that rust if you look at them crosseyed.
