Anyone know where to have custom stamps made, and how much they might run? I'd like to stamp my logo onto my blades.

http://www.henryaevers.com/ . They are fairly expensive. Probally close to $400 with holder/press. I was curious to know if anyone has used the stamps made bye Riverside (aka: uncle Al's). They are very reasonable.

I went with an Ever Stamp...I like it...but unless you have a press to use it with (which I dont) its hit or miss...I went with the stencil and etcher...still gives me some probs from time to time but easier in the long run for me at this point in time....oww and I think the ever stamp cost me 180$...but that was years ago

I'm really just shooting for something that won't wear off. The etching looks as if it might wear away easily... (like within a few years) but if this is not the case I'll just go with the etching. 400 bones is way more than I could drop on a stamp any time soon.

Here is another thread that just started on the subject http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4433617#post4433617

If you go the etching route, they do not wear out the mark is burned in deeply if done right, stamps last forever as long as you only stamp the steel in the anealed state. It should not run you 400.00 more like 60.00 to 160.00 for the stamp alone. I free hand all my stamping and use a magnet to hold it steady untill I wack it with a deadblow hammer. The holder can be fashioned from many things instead of the holder from evers which is like 175.00 I am not knocking the holder just saying with a little work you could fasion something that works and cost much less?

If you go the etching route your cost will be close to the stamp, you will save some if you build your etching unit...they are very easy to do look at Dan Grays tutorials...http://www.knivesby.com/knifemaking.html

Your stencils will cost some money unless again you build your own maker, or find a typewriter and buy the film and simply etch your name.

There are a few companies marking methods, electro etch, they all have a standard art fee and a minimum purchase I belive marking methods is 50.00.

You will need to purchase your etching chemicals, cleaner and batting for doing your mark?

Hope that helps.

That is why I stated $400 WITH PRESS. From what others have said it is in the $160-$180 ballpark for just the stamp.

Sorry was not out to offend you what I ment to say it would be 400.00 if you go that route, which is way to much unless you have money to burn.

My stamp is three letters and 4 arrows and it cost 140.00+ shipping from buckeye engraving , ES wanted 185.00 for the same art work.

The press is nice but not 175.00 nice imo, not when knifemakers are such the crafty bunch.

Hello Mike:

I use the evers stamp here in my shop. With my name it came to $140.00. But you will need to build your own holder for the stamp. The one he has is for stamping with a hammer and will not work as utilizing a press. I do not recommend using the hammer for stamping names on your knife. You got one shot at it and what you see is what got. Pressing is the right way to go about. This way it will come out evenly all around. And you will get a lifetime out of it. You can call them on the phone and explain your purpose and size. In my book this is the way to go. Please visit my web site and click on Knife Makers Supplies and that will get you there. I also have additional knife makers supplies there as well. Please take a tour through my Knife Shop why you there and you can see my setup of my stamping Press. Please sign my Guest Book and let me know if it was helpful and educational to you. God bless and may you have a blessed day.
