Custom Stockman?

I have never owned a custom and am thinking about picking one up. Need some advice from you guys on who i should go with. In the price range of 300 or so

I am fairly new to the custom knife scene but from what I have seen, you will have a hard time finding a custom Stockman for $300 or so. That is unless by "or so" you mean at least twice that much.

I would love to have a custom Stockman. I would have bought one a while back but it was already taken. It was a really sweet knife and at the time I would have gladly paid the asking price. Unfortunately those funds are gone now and I have to start all over again.

Most of the custom knives you see bandied about here would be at least two, if not three times (or more) your budget for a 3 blade knife.
There is however at least one maker that has within the last year sold a 3 blade custom (with bolsters no less!) for exactly $300:

You might contact him and see what he can do for you. I don't own one if Gene's knives but they seem to get pretty good reviews.
