I was just wondering if there are other finishes that you can apply to titanium.
Can you beadblast it?
I know about anidization, but I was wondering if you could Beadblast it first so that when it does rub off on the high spots, it would stay in the low, maybe creating a polka-dot pattern.

Is this possible?
I am mainly thinking of customizing my Benchmade 42 balisong.
Also, how does Ti take filework?

I've anodized several titanium handles that were first bead blast. The colors are a bit subdued. However, if you have areas that are left shiny you get a striking contrast after anodizing!

You can bead blast Ti and like Tom said it is a duller tone. But for me it does last longer as a daily carry and if you rubbed it enough you will get your polka dot pattern where the wear is. You could also bead blast it and then use a scotch brite pad for the same effect. Satin finish is the best for looks. I also have polished the Ti and it looks great but rubs off real easy! Ti file works real easy. I use a Foredom tool for my liners /blade and screws. Carbide burrs.
