Who is currently custom making traditional Hawks? I have an interest in possibly acquiring a Trail Hawk/Frontier Hawk.

Pics would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Look at walkbyfaith777, I'm ordering one here soon from him. Hb forge and beaver Bill aswell make some nice hawks

Daniel Winkler does some fantastic work as well. He did the Hawks for the movie "Last of the Mohicans". Mr. Winkler is also doing tons of work for the face shooters over in the sandbox. I have one of his combat axes, and it is fantastic. I admit a bias, but his work definitely warrants a look. 😄

It's a common misconception that Dan did all the work for the movie, I used to be among those spreading that rumor. While it's true that Dan did work on a couple of the items used, he is not cited in the credits. http://www.nytimes.com/movies/movie/28430/The-Last-of-the-Mohicans/credits Randall King is cited at the custom knife maker for the movie.

I have owned a few of Dan's works, and all of them have been top-notch. Just clarifying the long running rumor that is often mis-credited.

Further clarification on "Last of the Mohicans".

I made the knives carried by Daniel Day Lewis "Hawkeye", his Indian brother "Uncas" and the Tomahawk carried by "Magua". Randall made the knives carried by "Chingachook" and "Magua". As well as many of the secondary character knives. The Gunstock War Club carried by "Chingachook" was made by the props department. For each of the knives and tomahawks used by principal characters we made 3 alike so if one was lost or damaged during filming there would be a spare an filming could continue. One also went to Special Effects for reproduction in rubber.

I was not in the credits due to a "clerical error" as it was explained to me.

Firestrike, good luck on your search for a traditional Hawk. I am no longer taking new orders for custom knives or Hawks.

Daniel

My post wasn't meant as a snide remark towards you at all Dan. Like I said, I've enjoyed the pieces from WK2 that I've owned. I hope it wasn't construed to be negative.

Too late some of his Spec Warfare customers are inbound to your pos. . . .

Google Aditheil, I ordered a hawk from him recently and love it. He also offers Damascus, which I've always liked the look of. Maybe not in a traditional head, but it's still gorgeous. He does full customs as well as what's listed.

My Craig Barr.
