First, is Chris Reeve doing custom graphic Umnumzaans? I saw this in the gallery thread, and being that the umnumzaan is simply my favorite EDC folder, I am intrigued...

Second, anyone out there customize their own umnumzaan? like polishing it or whatever...

Seriously impressed... Chris Reeve has joined the small list of "MY" knife makers, that only Fallkniven and Fehrman currently occupy..
 
I think only two of these were ever made. Different graphics though. At the time it was a mystery steel but now we know it was s35vn.
 
I am the proud owner of those two and the one who posted that photo :D

Here is the reverse side of those knives,

It was made in October of 2008 and had at the time the mystery steel, now known to be S35VN.

It is one of the very few CRK's that i have seen with graphic work done on both sides of the handle.

This is a picture of it with the first card that uses the term "mystery steel"

There was one other custom graphic Umn made at the same time, with the same blade steel but it has the regular bead blasted finish handle except for the little bit of custom graphic work.

If you want to sell that polished and colored mystery steel umnum, I will be happy to take it off your hand... And happily pay whatever you want ;)
Seriously beautiful knives.

I wanna buy another umnumzaan so I can customize my main one to my hearts content... I am gonna buy some titanium and make some dummy scales and practice my hand at anodizing so I can polish and anodize mine. Definitely my favorite knife. You know you have found your favorite when you would rather buy multiples of it, as opposed to other knives.

how do you think they got that wispy fluid like anodizing in the grooves? It looks amazing, and I may do something like that if I can figure out ho to do it.
 
Hey Markous, I was wondering if you could take a pic of the info sheet for that custom umnumzaan... I can sort of make it out, but there are a few crucial words covered by the knife

Maybe the whole scale was anodized then the top polished?
