I was wondering if someone out there has considered making a 204P/M390/Elmax blade for the ZT 0450 and/or 0452. I love both the knives but they go dull quickly (and by "go dull" I mean need maintenance to become razor sharp. They are still "working sharp"). I also have a 0770 in Elmax and that one I definitely sharpen/maintain it less than once a week, when I'm carrying/using it. The S35VN can need maintenance in as little as a day if I'm not careful what materials I'm cutting. So I would like to find different blades rather than finding different knives.

I wonder if a blade from the 0454 204P Russian model would fit the 0452. Not worth the cost though...especially since they didn't use CF! Just my .02

never had a problem with s35 ,s30 or elmax. they all equal about the same. are you sure you aren't dealing with a burr or wire edge that's left from sharpening? mine usually go a month or longer b=efore touching up. I use mine on cord and string mostly and to open the pkgs we get.if you are cutting cardboard it might be a bit different.the elmax is a bit easier to keep sharp but not enough to complain about. I have the 0550,0350,0300 and 0770 and the safe queen a 0777. I cant say on the 0777 because I haven't cut anything with it.

I don't think it's a wire edge...I'm using a DMT Aligner with fine 600 grit and extra fine 1500 grit. I read somewhere that the Elmax likes a rougher finish so I stop at the 600 with that and seems to do well. The S35VN on 1500 grit seems to be as sharp as the Elmax on 600 grit but of course doesn't hold the razor sharpness long (neither does Elmax at 1500, for me). I cut plastic bags with parts inside and packing tape on boxes mostly. If I cut cardboard or shop rags S35VN gets dull after only a few cuts and Elmax doesn't seem to.

try running it over paper and see if you can feel a drag to it. I take my elmax and s35 both from 600dmt to 1 micron paste on a strop and I can tell very little if any real difference in the edge life. I do my edges by hand, the knives I make I set the bevel on a belt grinder and then it goes on a stone. I do blades for buck 110 but never even thought of zt because they are fine as is to me. the 110 folder is a fairly easy blade to do.however mine are flat grinds like the zt's instead of hollow like the buck.

I see. I will try that. Also found I should clamp the DMT in the middle of the blade's length to avoid variations in the bevel
