Hey guys! Looking to take the plunge into getting a custom knife. Price point is 500, no more. For reference, my top 3 favorite knives are the Protech tr3, the Zt 0562ti, and the Benchmade Osborne! The Protech has this ungodly snap, the ZT fits on my hand perfectly, and the Osborne was my favorite until I got the other two. The axis lock is wonderful. Could you guys help me out with some suggestions other than CRK and Hinderer! I have read that the Zt 0562ti is preferred by many over the hinderer. Thank you all!

Welcome but none of the knives you mentioned are ‘custom’ knives...productions and mid-tech.

A great place to start would be in the Makers For Sale area and the Customs For Sale area....there are many in your $500 range.

I never said any of my knives were custom

For that point you never said you even had any knives....just your favorites which are all Production.

Since I have no idea what you want, and don’t know anything about production knives or what these are you refer to, like was said earlier....good luck. ;)

So I have all of those knives but I have been looking at the Grimsmo Norseman, Protech Strider Sng, but those are either outside of my price range or out of stock... I would like something with some meat on it, as I said the 0562ti fit my hand perfectly. I am a big fan of titanium scales, but that’s not a deal breaker for me.

Hi B Broclee89 Welcome to Bladeforums.

Dudley's not wrong. My initial take on your post gave me the same head-scratches. However, since you clarified:

I would give a larger expert than me a call who can certainly guide you in price point and availability. Try @Neil Ostroff at True North Knives. (Search and Google) Since he deals with BOTH quality productions AND Customs he know the distinctions.

Good luck. Glad you like this hobby!

Thank you very much friend!

At $500 you are kinda on the edge of custom folder land; more like high end mid-tech.
I would look at BladeGallery. South African smiths IMO are hidden gems and are in your ballpark.
Curtiss is another to look at.
You'll find that most custom folders are in $500+ land.
Another option is to search used, Arizona Custom is a good place to start.
