Thats right. A custom Wegner framelock. Orange peel finish on the titanium. BG-42 blade steel. Jeweled liners. Drilled and tapped for tip up or down carry. It sure is sweet.

It looks like this one, with the exception that the one pictured is a liner lock and this one is a frame lock. Aesthetically they are the same.

What do you guys think?

Shootist16, They are not the most beautiful knife in the land, BUT a wonderful knife, sturdy, and great design.I have an early model made with 440v steel ser#2. I got it from a fellow formite recently. Mine is brown micarta. I will use mine as a pocket hunting knife and skinner. Before deer season I will test it on a large coyote I have in the freezer. Just have to find the time to thaw it to skin.
Do you think the titanium handle on yours will be slippery? Good luck with your new knife. Regards Jim

Got it from Larry at Blade Art.

It doesn't seem too slippery. The oraneg peel finish gives it some texture. Also the handle shape tself seems to really lock it into your hans.

Outstanding! My favorite design with my favorite lock type.........off to see Larry.

Thanks for posting this!

Take care,
Tom

I like it a lot, Dennis! Somehow, the lighter colored handle makes the knife look extremely different than the G-10 model we're all so familiar with. Is the business of showing the frame lock to Sal Glesser being taken care of? I really think it is time for Spdyerco to put out a frame lock, to compete with those from other manufacturers. It seems to be a growing trend. What better way to breathe new life into a great design, and a great knife?

Kinda makes me wonder what it would look like with ivory micarta or something else light-colored.

Hmm. I don't know what happened, but I _think_ this new software ate my post!

Anyway, yeah, SWEET knife. Any idea if they offer one with a blade size closer to the Wegner Jr.?

Mike

So I am to understand that TImmy made that knife? (with a little help from Lassie of course) .....the whole thing right?

It is made by Phil Boguzewski.

I don't think he has a standard model the size of the Wegner jr, but I'm sure he can make one.

I asked because Tim had some hand made knives at his booth at the Blade Show (made by Tim Wenger) and was curious as to how he had made the jump from hunting knives to framelocks so quickly. Thanks.

That is soooo honey !!! My sebenza just squeeked past my Wenger to be my every day carry about four years ago. I loved that Wenger from spyderco but the Sebenza with that Frame lock and all just won my heart. It felt more like a locked Fixed blade than a liner lock could ever feel. But ..... a titanium bg42 Wenger !!!! That is like a dream knife ! Damn you .... damn you ... I already visited Bladeart .. do you know how close that is to buying Another Knife !!!

I'm not having any luck getting a decent picture. Why is it so hard to get a decent picture of a knife? Obviously that is something I haven't mastered yet.

I did find a better picture of the titanium liner lock though. The frame lock looks exactly like this one except that the one pictured is a liner lock. It does give you a better idea of what they look like though.

Meanwhile I will keep trying to take a better pic.

Larry at Bladeart was kind enough to send me this pic. This is a much better look at the Wegner designed framelock.

I don't have to tell you that it locks up rock solid. A great variation of an awesome design.

How much? Does he have any others?

What's it like for EDC?

I think I need a custom. I've been looking at either a Kit Carson small model 4 or Dozier DK-FH.

He does have some left. They are $399. They are all serial numbered as well. I ended up getting number 3 :D

The titanium handles make it very lightweight and the framelock makes it tough. The handles are incredibly comfortable, and the bladeshape is conducive to a lot of tasks. The design of the Wegner is my favorite overall design. I have yet to find a knife that fits me so well.

I am used to carrying the Spyderco version. This one is lighter so it makes for a better EDC. It is also prettier ;)

All in all I think it would make for an excellent EDC.
