I have a Benchmade 581 that I'm looking to replace the cheap plastic spine on it with a stainless steel version.
To make it a simpler job, I don't want the jimping that's on the spine, and since I removed the safety mechanism, any part of the spine that contacts that mechanism can be eliminated. Also, there are some nubs on the side that help index the liners with the spine... so I'm not sure how that's going to get machined in. Maybe it can be skipped.
Also, I'm really thinking about replacing the G10 part of the scales replaced with anodized aluminum in a nice color.
Do you think it can be done? Anyone up for the challenge? I can definitely make a SolidWorks drawing of it, I'm just not an expert on CNC machining.
