custom work on a factory knife or tool

I have seen severel knives and some multi-tools that I really liked, but there was something about a few of them that I might want to be different. For instance, a pocket clip on a buck 110, or 112. a pocket clip on my supertool. There have been others, but those come to mind at this time. maybe a special blade style, metal, handle design, handle shape or special material or a custom sheight. I am not trying to totally redesign the knife , but just jazz it up a bit. Has anyone did this and were you satisfied with your results or were you un-happy with the results?
