First the American Ninja then the Neck Ninja, now the Neck Ninja HD!!
My Neck Ninja has been a very popular model for me. The need for a heavier duty version was expressed by my good friend, customer, and forumite, Mario Catala. In Mario's line of work, he OFTEN calls on a knife to perform to the extreme! Lets just say that many of his daily carry knives are of the TOUGH, OVERBUILT variety
and they are USED!!
HD stands for HEAVY DUTY !!
After many Emails we came up with the version above. It's based on the same pattern and dimensions of the standard model. The main difference is that this one is made with thicker, 5/32" D2. This provides a VERY strong blade and a thicker edge than what I put on the standard model. Other changes included reshaping the butt to provide a comfortable handle using the tough, solid handle materials. Lastly, the tang is tapered and drilled to reduce weight. Both versions shown below. The HD in these pictures features Rag Micarta. By the way, I you have some, I WANT SOME
All in all, I think this project turned out to be a success. As you can see by the size comparison below, the HD is very compact but the handle fills the hand very well and indexs easily. The tapered tang makes the knife light enough for neck carry but I offer a horizontal belt sheath for it also.
I'm hoping Mario will provide an actual review of the knife after he puts it through some abuse
I will have picutures of other HD's with different handle materials on my site VERY soon.
Let me know what you think??
