I recently purchased a Sage 2 and I absolutely love it and its going to get ALOT of use. My question is, years down the road, if the liner lock starts to engage and touch the other scale; will Spyderco fix it?

Would you consider it a defect in material or workmanship if it wore out through extended use? I don't think so. Buy two more now, while they are still available and store them for use when that one wears out. That should be a lifetime supply.

That's actually not a bad idea at all. btw, I apologize if I came off as taking a hit at Sypdercos workamanship as that was not my intent. All of my experiences with Spyderco have been nothing but top notch. :)

AFAIK, Spyderco has never rebuilt a worn out lock. If they felt the lock failure was premature they replaced the knife if it was still in production, or extended a credit at SFO (their online company store) for the MSRP if it was no longer available. If they felt it was normal wear and tear, they suggested the knife be retired. To the best of my knowledge, that has always been the case, even with knives built in Golden.

By the way, I practice what I preach. ;) I have pre-need replacements for pretty much all my favorites. :D
