Hey all, I was just wondering what the turnaround was like with the good folks at Buck.

I just bought my first 110, its brand new with the 09 date stamp, I bought it online and i didnt get to handle it. It has some blade play, both front to back and side to side, and I was thinking of sending it back to Buck for them to fix it.

I am not really concerned that the knife will break on me or anything, its just that its a brand new knife and the blade play bugs me a bit. My dad's 1986 110 has no front to back blade play to speak of and is just now developing a small amount of play from side to side and he has used it hard for twenty plus years.

Anyway, if I send it in, how long will it take to get back to me, and also how much will I have to pay Buck to take care of this?

Buck will repair or replace the knife at no cost to you, other than your original cost for mailing, and the time seems to vary anywhere from several weeks to perhaps up to a month or maybe longer; seems to depend on what is going on at Buck at the time. I would send it in as well, but with the forever warranty, it is also something that you could do in the future if you elect not to do it now.

I sent in a BUCK 881(I think?) & got it back within two weeks. That was fast!

Return your knife with confidence that it will be take care of like the person squaring it away owned it himself.

Buck rocks.

I am disappointed that your first experience with a 110 had blade play. All I check are nice and tight. We have done work on smoothing all the bearing surfaces so we can make them tighter without having them bind.

Send it to Joe Houser so we can take a look at it. Tell him of this post and he will get it turned around right away.

You could tighten it with a vice ;) Just wrap the knife with thick leather or cardboard to prevent any scratches to the brass bolsters.
I've done it to mine one time and it has worked great
