I sent in my military for repair almost a month ago. According to USPS, it arrived in Golden on the 10th of August. I emailed customer service 5 days ago and asked them if they had even received the knife...no response :( Does it normally take customer service this long to reply?

I havent had a lot of job with CS in the past either. Had far better results contacting the company through the forums.

Not a bad idea to join the Spydie forum actually.

Here is the USPS info:

Small company. I'd say two to three weeks turnaround once they receive a knife is about average. It's summer, so with folks taking vacations they may be a bit more shorthanded than usual and pushing the upper limit of that. If, perchance, you addressed it to Sal's attention, that, while insuring excellent quality of service, can also delay it if he's out of town. Or, the knife could be on its way back to you. I'd say it a fair statement that, as good as Spyderco is with a lot of things, email response is not always one of them.

Sorry Herr_Noobien,

It's been waiting for my attention. We got to it last Friday. Should go out Monday.

I've dealt with Spydero CS once. They were great and very prompt in responding to me, and gave me total satisfaction. I'm sure if there was a delay, it was entirely unintentional.

Ive dealt with customer service a few times and they have forever earned my loyalty. One time they replaced a defective (only one of MANY HARD users by em that I own) knife with a new one that I proudly promote every opp I get due to its kick buttness (CF ZDP CALY 3). The other instance, I got 2 free (accident on CS part) T-mags according to my year end credit card summary. I still intend to send them $ once I get some spare change and remember to pay for knives I didnt ask for :p

Thanks for the reply Sal. How much will the repairs cost and how much will it be to get it shipped back? Also, I don't mean to be rude or anything, but how exactly did you guys go about fixing it? I'm curious to find out what was wrong with it.

Thanks again.

That info they consider personal and don't publish on a website for public use. Call, e-mail, PM, or something besides asking for information that's private between the company and customer.

I'd always trust Sal & crew to do the right thing - Every time ;)

You can tell by all the truly loyal customers they have :D

4-6 weeks is what almost all knife companies give you up front, on warranty and repair work. Often they get it back sooner, but sometimes (depending on the problem) it's back sooner.

Just got an email from customer service, the knife was mailed home yesterday, apparently it was fixed for free and I didn't have to pay retrun shipping (which is awesome considering that I had stripped screws on the handle). Seriously good stuff.
Thanks to the team at spyderco!
