Rob Simonich has asked me to post the fact that he has unfortunately experienced a catastrophic computer failure.

All hard disk data has been irrevocably lost.

NOT affected are his outstanding order records. Again, if you have an order with Rob, you're just fine, be it a custom knife or Talonite bar stock. Rob maintains hard copy on all orders and deliveries will be
unaffected.

What he has lost that impacts readers of this post are all his e-mail records. Accordingly, if you have outstanding, unanswered e-mail, he requests that you give him at least three (3) days to get replacement hardware on-line, then re-send your e-mail and he will respond as soon as possible.

Please do not call to ask for voice responses to unanswered e-mail.

Rob asks your indulgence while he gets his system back up and running.

Whew, sorry to hear of Rob's compter crash, but as a customer of his, I can back up Bob's info. I've seen Rob's book, he's got each of his customers names and what they ordered written down longhand.
Rob is what you call, Y2K compliant

No worries. Good luck to you on your new system Rob.

That's awful about the crash - hopefully the new system will be better & faster - Santa, please be very good to Rob, he deserves it!!!! - I'm glad that Rob had the orders stored in a manual Y2K compliant system - would have been devastating if my four orders for next year had been lost. Appreciate the heads up Bob & FYI I got my Talonite Carnivore with Ringed Gidgee wood scales & filework yesterday - it makes every other folder I own pale in comparison - piece is outstanding' Will try & get pictures up today.

Well, at least Rob won´t have to worry about the bug anymore...
Lucky guy, isn´t he?

You know how to scare someone, thought something had happened to Rob! I just heard from Ed Schott the other day and his computer is back up now, though he might be trying to keep it under wraps for a bit.

Paper records, that should be a lesson for everyone! It could happen to all of us without warning!!! So keep records, hard copies of your orders if you can...

I know Rob will miss the forums for a bit, but maybe that'll give him some time to work on some knives?

Bob,

You scared the hell out of me!!! (with this thread title). Like Gary I feared something had happened to Rob...

I may still be pretty gunshy after what happened with my knife maker friend Mel Sorg...

Thank God it was just a hardware problem,

Safe and Happy Holidays to all,

Waldo

Gary / Waldo:

Sorry guys! I never even thought about the subject line grabbing anyone that way. I was just so focused on helping Rob out after receiving his land line call. I hadn't forgotten Mel at all. There was just no association made in my mind when I made the post. I sincerely apologize for giving you guys a start
