A friend asked me to put new scales on his ash because they came from the shop a little to thin for his liking .
Local Jarrah with Mosaic pins in the middle of the hollow rivets.

Richard...fantastic work, though it would take me some time to get used to the mosaic pins in the middle of the tube fasteners. Man...if you didn't live so far I'd send you a knife to freak. Good stuff, brother.

The burl that the knife came with is stunning, I remember eyeballing it in a Ganzaa... I think. But if they were uncomfortable for him, they're no good, regardless of how they look. If it were mine I would've kept the burl and beefed up the slabs with some liners. I like the tube fasteners/bolts you used, a lot. Nice work!:thumbup:

Not a bad idea for future customizations. I'm sure many of us have had the same thoughts on how to get thicker SnakeSkin, but I've never seen it, interestingly enough.

The original Burl is gorgeous. Maybe thick liners would have worked/

Awesome job!!

Thanks for the kind comments guys.
I will include part of my friends comments on another forum.

"neither of us could really get over the green dye or the extreme thinness of the scales...

If he doesn't like the pins they can be removed,I think if I had some coloured Mosaic pins it may look a bit better??

Adding thick liners to such a thin scales would not be a good look, when I knocked out the first pin the thin scale curled up so they would have come loose sooner or later.

I got to handle that knife before it got to Richard. I was shocked at how green it was and how thin the scales were.

These slabs look 10 times better. On ya Richard
