If I have 2 Spydercos that are the same model, but with different scale colors or materials, am I able to swap (exchange) blades between the two to achieve the color/steel combo that I am wanting? If I can, is this something the factory can do for me? Am I correct in understanding that if I take a knife apart myself, it will void the warranty?

Disassembly voids Spyderco's warranty, whether it is done by you or by someone specializing in customizing knives and, aside from laser engraving, Spyderco does not do any custom work for customers. On the bright side, almost all valid warranty issues are things that are painfully obvious the first time you handle a knife. Once you're satisfied with the knife, voiding the warranty is of little consequence. The only thing that matters then is that the mods are done by someone competent.

No, I had a great experience, sculpted Coyote Brn G10. I just like most of my folders stock.

Correct :), if it will work that is.
I'm sure you'll find at least one person who'll say he did it, and both the resultant knives worked just fine. I'm sure you'll find one who'll say he wound up putting things back the way they were, as one or both did not lock up properly. Blade swaps are always a craps shoot but, IMHO, the odds get worse when the differences involve more than just steel or scales. That said, unlike humpty dumpty, as long as you don't start trying to "make things fit" if the resultant knives don't work properly they can be put back together again.

Military liner to framelock swaps have worked fine for me. Never know until you try.

yes, please post some photos when your knife is done, love to see how it worked out for you.:stupid:

I usually end up modding all of my knives at some point, very few are bone stock. Like the deacon said, if its in working order when i get it, anything that goes wrong with it is probably my fault and i dont expect spyderco to have to deal with it lol. Ive rarely encountered a problem i couldent fix myself or repurpose to make it work. If a knife is a user, i have no problem modding it. Give the blade swap a shot, the lock up may need some tinkering to get it just right, but thats half the fun.
