With all the new patterns this year and after reviewing Steve Pfeiffer new book Collecting Case Knives (Very informational book BTW and in full color to boot. Lots of pics. Every Case fan should have this book on their shelf) I started thinking. If you could have a custom Case knife (pick your own pattern, steel, scales, etc. that is readily available at Case) what would it be? Also, which knife would you like to see Case re-introduce?

My custom: I love barlows and trappers so this was a hard choice. I'd have to say a barlow with clip and pen blades, ATS-34 steel, blades brushed, nickel silver bolsters and liners (brushed as well) and black G-10 scales.

I would love for Case to re-introduce the swell-end jack, pattern 31.

Swayback Jack with a single blade of ATS-34, nickel silver bolster and liners, and black G-10 scales.

a 2 blade CV elephant toenail with Yeller scales:thumbup::D
a big honking working mans knife:D

Full size trapper, ATS-34, with only a front bolster and black G-10 for the scales. I would like mine with the standard clip and spey blades, but a wharncliff might suit me too. The only option case doesn'f offer that I would like would be a lanyard hole. It may be a little more custom than whats called for here, but I would jump all over it.

I would have to go with a 92 series Jack...

Clip and Pen blades in ATS-34 or D2.
The scales would have to be old school Case green bone with a pinned shield and nickel silver liners

:D:D:D

I would like a sodbuster jr with 440c and green canvas micarta
And A sodbuster jr CV with stag scales.
Otherwise I think case do a good jobb. ;)

I would like the old pattern 45 Scout/ utility knife (XX USA 640045R -on page 161 of the book, "Collecting Case Knives: Identification and Price Guide")

The primary blade would be in CV steel, or maybe a sandvik steel. Total length closed would be 4" instead of 3 3/4".

The handle cover would be in Mexican bocote wood (as seen in GEC knives).

That would make me very happy.:)

I'll play the devil's advocate here. Don't mean to tempt ya ;) Check this link. Scroll down to the second knife. I believe the sunfish and elephant toe are the same pattern, just two different nicknames.

dont know 'bout the gold blades and the condition, geez thats alot o' money:eek:
i suspected that they produced most of the patterns in yeller at one time or another
thanks

p.s there is a yeller bone gec that is currently tempting me, 1095 carbonsteel long pull, yeller... beautiful knife:thumbup:

I'd like a 4" 2 blade folding hunter(the mid-folding hunter frame-no lock- but with normal shaped blades like the big folding hunter), their dark red jigged bone like it was several decades ago, ATS34 clip blade, CV skinner blade. :) And I'd love copper bolsters and center liner.- outer liners SS. At least the bolsters in copper... But case would never do that, they'd decide that copper would be too hard for anyone to maintain..

Actually the 6445R scout/utility pattern was a far superior knife as compared to the 640045R.

Case made the 6445R in house with bone handles and CV steel and it was built like a tank with super thick blade stock. Sadly discontinued in 1978.

The 640045R was actually outsourced to other companies (Ulster, Utica, and most recently Camillus). It was a lower quality knife intended to sell at a lower price point. Still a very good knife for the money. Made in carbon steel until about 1990 when it was changed to stainless.

I'm about halfway there. I have one of their 154CM barlows with the scales swapped out for smooth black buffalo horn and only two pins showing. I'm eventually going to do a full tear down and re-make the liners out of nickle silver. Mostly because I don't like how the bolsters aren't soldered.
