Customize a Mini-Grip - worth it?

I'm thinking about getting another mini-grip but for some reason BM does not offer some of the great colors without a black blade and the coating on these are not up to the task. With their customize a grip utility you can put together just about anything but is it worth an extra $45 or so? For the same price you can pick up a Ritter but there again in limited options. Hmm....

I think the mini grip is a great knife but i also think the ritter is a better knife than the regular 556. The 556 was my first "quality" knife wich i sold to get a ritter:D
I like the steel, finish, shape and jimping of the ritter better.
Both the ritter and the 556 have the same handle wich is the worst feature of these knives, in my opinion.
The examples you showed look great, specially the orange, but in my opinion i would get the ritter if i were you.
So, if you want to customise just take it to another level, buy the Wilkins Grip for it:D! Man...it is my favourite EDC ever! I like it even better than my sebenza!!
The Wilkins Grip makes it feel so much solid that it doesn't even feel like the same knife and the all the fun of the axis lock is still there.
It's a total winner in my book;)

Try to find new Wilkins grips! Cuscadi offers a ton of options at a fraction of the price of Wilkins. I need a new knife like a hole in the head, but most of us are full of holes.....

I've been tempted to create a mini grip a time or 2. I'd like a standard 556 in S30V with an handles, like the pics you posted. The mini Ritter is also a great little knife.

The Ritter is indeed a nice blade but I have enough Spyderco S30V to scratch that itch and the standard blade on the minis are no slouches. I cut everything with them and they keep on ticking. While I really like the Ritter/Wilkins combo it sort of throws the "semi-budget knife" theme out the window as a potential $300+ knife!

As nice as the Wilkins Grips are, i cannot justify spending that much on knife handles alone. I'd rather just buy another knife altogether for that kind of money.

...especially when I can get this kind of work for $100..

Benchmade should just sell a Mini Ritter grip with flat g10 scales and they would make an absolute killing.

You would think so as the axis lock already sells itself and everyone likes nice scales. They must sell so many that they don't care? What would be a fair price point for such a knife?

Benchmades philosophy with the Grip series is use it as a hook, call their 1-800 number and listen to the recording, it's the basic(value) knife they produce and I suspect it makes them a good deal of money.

Look at their similar knives, I think it would increase cost by a significant margin, having had some Grips and giving them to family, I can tell you that epoxy and some split shot added to the scales does a very good job at making the knife feel better.
