Anyone have any stories about modifying the Wave? I'm curious if the tamper-proof torx wrench has become available?

Things I would like to do:

Swap 2nd smallest screwdriver for leather awl
Attach small thumbstuds to assist one hand open
Swap out blade for higher quality steel blade
Increase lanyard hole diameter

Man, I'm sitting here reading this, and was completely lost as to what the heII you were talking about. I thought you were referring to EKI Wave on their knives. Then it dawned on me about the Leatherman Wave. Duh.:D

I am interested in this - I would like a better quality knife blade.

The topic of the Torx drivers came up a while ago in this thread:

Apparently they are sold only to manufacturers, not individuals.

There is a version of the wave with thumb studs sold in europe under the Fox brand:

Click on "Two Sails", then scroll down to TS8007

You can use small cable ties to make studs for your Wave, just run them through the blade holes so that the tab faces out to the side, cut off the ecess tie, and melt it a little so that it won't come loose. I did this on my Wave and it works great, I even used different color ties for the plain and serrated blades so that it is easier to tell them apart.

That looks pretty sweet. Is it a knock-off of the Wave or is it a product, indirectly, of Leatherman?

I noticed that this version also has a leather punch. The tool replacing the bottle/can opener looks strange -- how do you suppose it works?

Dizos,

I don't know - I have only seen the pic, my guess is that it is made under some kind of agreement with Leatherman.

Don't know. It looks like some of the tools are different than the Wave's. They are aranged differently too. Looks like they added an awl and lost the lanyard swivel and one of the screw drivers.
