A few days ago I found a customized 124 for sale in Germany.
The seller told me he bought the knife at a V8 muscle car meeting
near Frankfurt/Main in G. He paid 300 Mark for the Knife.
The seller told me he got the knife from a big man with a big
beard who had Problems with the German language. He bought
the knife and it went into a drawer. Neither his devorced wife nor
his several girlfriends liked the knife and so he decided to sell.
He had no idea who the seller was. But a stamp on the right side
of the knife brought me to blue mountain turqoise and Danny Riccitelli.
He was the seller who offered his customized Buck knives himself in
Germany 20 years ago. Yes, a big man with a big beard :)

Anyone else who has a story behind his customized Buck knife
(esp. 124) ?

Your hair is much thicker than my hair.:) BTW when you take a photo of such a heavy knife on the top of your head what precautions do you take in case it falls off your noggin?;) OMG Danny mangled a RED HEAD!

Nice find my friend and Oregon is correct your hair is much thicker than most and great balancing act.

Not head - breast! [emoji51][emoji39][emoji374][emoji457][emoji562]

No precautions needed there.

P.S.: Nice haircut on the right ...[emoji6]

Very nice Herbert!

I wish I would have known about him before. I actually came out of those "blue" mountains (The Continental Divide) on one of my backpacking trips and spend a couple days in Reserve, NM.
I wanted to stay there a couple years ago when I did a 7,500 mile motorcycle trip, but the motel in Reserve had burnt down.

Gorgeous knife, nice find. Will fit in the collection nicely. What year is it?

Stumps, the motel in Reserve burned down about 5 years ago. There is another motel on the outskirts of town. A Great place to live. Just no health care facilities. Lots of wildlife, turkey, deer, bear & elk. It gets cold up there, especially for a for a swamp hiking boy. If you want more info. email me. I visit Reserve several times a year. DM

That is awesome Herbert,

Looking at the home page it is a valuable score!

Turquoise is beautiful and it looks great on that 124. I think I would display it where I could look at it all day long.

The more I couldn't understand that the owner left the beauty in a drawer for 20 years ...

Thank you, guys, for the kind comments. I took some more pictures, but the
cell phone switched to TIFF format and Photobucket doesn't load up these photos.
I tried to use a photoshop app to swith the format. It doesn't work with .TIF too.
Easiest way is to take new photos. Thank you for your patience.

OMG Danny mangled a RED HEAD!

No, he hasn't. the 124 has birchwood scales. I would be lucky if he used a red head
for his work.

And yes, David has good eyes. the knife has the + date Stamp.
But I don't know when Danny did his customizing. He had
five years. I wrote him a mail but he didn't gave a statemant
about his workanship on the knife.

Haebbie,

Would the 124 make a good nicker knife to carry in Lederhosen? (I'm joking of course)

No, BuckShack, it is too big for carrying in a Lederhose. It would give too much extra load for the suspenders. :p ;)

I had warn this one at Chuck's grill party (no Buck knife   :jerkit: :) )

Haebbie, I was secretly hoping you would show a real nicker knife. It's beautiful. Thank you!
