I just received my Dominator back from Charles Gedraitis. After the beautiful job he did blue anodizing the background pattern of my Aftermath...

...I had to see what he could do with the more understated Dominator. I left how up to him.

My photography doesn't do this full justice, but here's a look at my Dominator after Charles did his magic.

Isn't that prettier than plain old grey? :D  :D

Great job, but i would like to see the dominator with walnut burl or ironwood inserts.

Bob,
Your blue DOMINATOR is looking good!

Airblade,
Because the Ti frame is heavily recessed on the non locking side to accomodate the ROBO feature, I don't think you are going to have room in the existing frames for an inlay.

Besides, I think it looks good as it is, but I'm biased;)

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. It's nice to know that others appreciate it too.

Tuff: I understand that green is very difficult to get with titanium. Fortunately for me, my favorite color is not quite as difficult. :)

When I saw this thread I had to have my dominator enhanced as well. After talking to Charles Gedraitis we decided to create a horizontal pattern from light blue to purple in the middle. The entire knife is basically powder blue with a purple line running horizontally. I took the following picture to give you a look but it doesn't do the knife justice. The anodizing makes the knife stand out much better than the production color. You get different types of blues and purple depending on the light.

Thankx to Chuck for doing a nice job on the anodizing :)

Very nice!

It sure is hard to get a good picture of the effects, isn't it. Even so, I can easily picture what yours must look like when the light hits it. Beautiful!

Anodizing is not my main reason for liking titanium-framed knives, but it sure is a pleasant bonus. And there is something deeply satisfying about having a knife customized. It's almost like getting an actual custom made...but less expensive. :)

I'm glad that you're as happy with yours as I am with mine! Charles is a serious artist as a custom maker, but he can achieve "art" this way too.

Thankx Bob,

You inspired me to get mine done. You are right on taking pictures they don't really reflect how nice the anodizing makes it look. You must have taken a few to get the color to come out right. I told Charles I wanted something a little different than yours.

P.S. Have you tried wiping a little windex on the frame to bring out the color. It removes oil build up from your hands.

TheBladeRunner: I'm glad to be able to share the disease. :)

To get the picture I posted I had to experiment with different lighting angles. It also helps that I have a pretty good digital camera (Sony DSC-F717). And I used some Windex on the frame before I took the shots.

BrianR.: I wouldn't feel right quoting someone else's price, but it was quite reasonable. You can get a quote directly from Charles by sending email to mailto:knifemaker_1999@yahoo.com. He's great to work with!

BrianR.

I also would prefer not to quote a price but I too though it was reasonable. Send Chuck an email tell him what colors you want and what design. He sent me back a few pictures of mine to make sure I was happy. I sent my knife out on monday he was out until thursday and I received my knife back friday. Bob is right Chuck was great to work with !!!

bquinlan I see you used windex to bring out the colors. I wondered how you got your picture to look that nice.

P.S. I finally got to take the knife out in real sunlight a totally different looking knife colors seem much brighter

Yeah! Anodizing looks nice in any lighting, but full-spectrum sunlight seems to bring out a much deeper range of colors.
