Edit: Pics added on post 4

I will get pics up soon, but I had to blurt out to you guys what I did to my Kershaw Cyclone. I used my dremel with a fine sanding bit to put an interesting design on the blade of my cyclone.

It does have a reflective finish, but in the glare of a light, it has an interesting repeating pattern. This probably came from the hand motions I did while sanding off the blade. The pattern is exaclty the same on both sides. I also did the same "finish" to the clip as well. It helps compliment the blade in my opinion.

I also took the liberty to create a finger choil where the blade meets the finger flipper. I ate up about 1/2" of blade with my cutting bit and made an arch with my dremel. I then used the cutting bit to create some jimping on the new choil. It now resembles a Spyderco Manix, and looks very nice (pats self on back). It almost looks like it was bought that way. I'm sure there are better modifications done out there, but I'm very proud of this one as it is my first "major" modificaiton using my dremel.

I'll put up pics soon, let me know what you guys think, J.

Let me know what you guys think, and if ya'll know a way to make it completely "satin" finish, please share the info.

Funkadelic! I like it! Interesting freehand Jeweling. I can't stare at it too long, 'cuz it'll make me hitnotized!

As far as the satin finish goes, maybe some form of chemical etchant (?)

Nice job batosai117.

Thanks Elarski :). I've been working on a CRKT M16-14, but it's not quite coming out the same :grumpy:.

I'm new to the group, but was a tool and die maker, and built custom rifles. If your looking for a satin finish, use wet or dry sandpaper, and use a real fine oil, such as wd 40 or silicone spray. get a piece of polished steel and experiment on it with different grits to get the effect you want. don't be afraid to experiment with cross strokes, etc. the finer the sandpaper, the more polished your surface will be. Hope this helps

Thanks very much . I'll be sure to try that. Would 3-in-1 be okay? I do have some 600 grit wet/dry sand paper. I'll try that out on one of my cheaper knives. Thanks for the tip, J.

600 grit will work fine, but I would use something thin for lubricant. I have always used water, but if rust is a problem, then you will have to take measures to prevent that. Kerosene would be better I would think
