Well, my wife is not huge on knives (though she supports my hobby fully) so I thought about something I could make her for valentine's that she would use and this is what I came up with. I don't do my own heat treatment yet and didn't have time to send it out so I opted to go for the Jantz letter opener blade instead of making my own this time. At $9 how can you lose anyhow! I buffed it and sharpened it but really it didn't need a whole lot of finishing.

Anyways, the handles are stabilized red dyed quilted maple that has some really nice figure. Black liners. I drilled small inlay holes on top of the pins and put some nice mother of pearl dots onto the handle. My pics really don't do the handle justice as the quilts are really nice on this piece. Anyways, hope you like it!! Hope she does too in a couple of days!!

I love the black liners with those red scales. The figure almost looks like flames. Very nice!

So how did she like it ? was it recieved well ??
My other half would be pleased with that piece for sure

She liked it a lot!! I think she actually preferred something that I had taken the time to make vs. expensive jewelry or something of that sort! Thanks for asking!
