hey guys i recently got my horizon d cf and i absolutely love this knife. but the Damascus ano on it kinda ruins the knife for me. its not a bad look, its just not my style. i was thinking of either a cracked ice (like on my mini bodega) in blue or blue to purple fade on the pocket clip back spacer and pivot (and color match the hardware). but i would love to hear some alternatives to this, however this is a everyday carry and will see lots of use. its not a knife i will knowingly take to do extremely hard use but if i have it on me and the opportunity arises it will be used hard. so nothing too extreme or flashy that will make me not want to ever take it out of my desk. with that in mind i would also like to hear some ideas for the handle, as of now i was planning on not touching it but i would change my mind if i see something cool.

I am using mine as it came, although the edge angle had to be brought down, it was like an axe. After it gets beat up I am sending it to one of our pimping gurus. I use mine fairly hard so the customization will have to not show wear as easily as the original configuration.
I suggest you break it in while you think about it, it is way too big of a knife to baby.

Welcome to the forum...

i thought that was odd also i think it came with a 25 degree grind which is way too low for me i usually go 20. thanks for the advise that is actually what im planning to do. i was just looking for other ideas on anodizing i already got my mini bodega pimped and was thinking of just a little anodizing and not touching anything else.

I haven't done any anodizing but I have cerakoted several Reates, here's one I did a while semi recently. Cracked earth pattern on the scales, blacked out the screws, added a hinderer style finger choil, and reground to thin it out... but ano would probably be the way to go if you want varying patterns on the screws.

Sorry apparently I can't spell just looked it up it looks like a rubberized coating type deal am I on the right track

np =) no it has no rubber in it... it's ceramic based.

”Cerakote is a ceramic based finish that can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers and wood. The unique formulation used for Cerakote ceramic coating enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness. Each of these properties is rigorously tested to guarantee that Cerakote products remain at the foreforont of the ceramic coatings market. Cerakote ceramic coatings utilize state-of-the-art technology to out-perform any competitive coating in both laboratory settings and real world applications.” (NIC Industries)

thanks for clarifying I honestly just looked at pics really quick while at work and replied. this actually makes allot more sense to put on a knife handle.

The other thing I was thinking was maybe be and acid wash finish on the blade like on my spyderco it shows no wear what so ever and looks damn good
