I had a fun time customizing my Marine Ka-Bar Tanto last night. I filed down and sharpened the back of the blade, making it double edged from tip to about 2 1/2 inches down. I also sawed off and filed down the back portion of the guard.

I must say, it was quite fun customizing my Ka-bar into the ultimate combat knife!

Anybody here do and similar customizing of their production knives (doesn't matter what brand)?

I took a classic Ka-bar, went to a friend of me who is gunsmith and asked him to remove the top guard. He did it nicely by following the curve of the knife and it's a completely new knife! The feeling in hand is really great! then I buy a Blackhawk deluxe military sheath for it, it's a perfect combination and don't cost a lot!
