Customizing production folder

Hi!

This is my first post at Custom Knife Forum. I´m slowly working my way up from production folders to custom folders.

I have one question for you out there:

If I want a new blade (bigger/longer) on a production folder according to my specifications in lets say CPM 440 V or something in the same price range and maybe with a bronze bushing (I don´t know if that is an impossible task from a technical standpoint). Are there any good custom makers that could give me a price estimate on that kind of work?

I know that there are some people that customize production folders but they seem to concentrate their efforts on the handles and/or filework on the blade. It´s the blade that concerns me on this folder. A custom maker could do a somewhat different version from scratch but this knife has a patented design so I can´t ask a maker to do that.

Thanks,
Colinz

I wanted to have something similar done (I would even provide the blade material) but the makers IMO do not like the idea.

I think that making the blade exactly the same (to fit existing folder) is not an easy task and the price might be even higher than ordering a custom folder.

On the other side scales are IMO easier to make and modify and the cost is not that high (actually if you take a look at customized production folders, they are quite expensive too).

So finally I decided to have the knife custom made and I think that is the way to go.

What David said.

I just do not think it is worth the effort.

Uh, ok.

I´ll save the money for a custom folder this fall.
