If anyone is interested in fixing up / customizing their RC's or H.E.S.T., there are several sites that make and sell custom lanyards for your knives. A good one is Wilsontactical.com. They will make one up for you in the colors you chose, and they have other little add-ons like skulls, beads and other items. I ordered a couple for my RC-5 and RC-3 and they really look great. Check it out!

How would putting a lanyard on your knife make it "custom"? Re-word your thread because it is misleading. When I think customization I think actual custom work done to one's RC blade and handle, not just 550 paracord braided on it. MY OPINION.

"Customizing" is pimping your gear, as he said, "fixing up".

By the way, lanyards or fobs are a regular cottage industry around here. You can find a few people selling them on Gadgets & Gear for Sale, which is where advertising should go, from a Gold member or higher.

If you're not selling or shilling, you can post your praise for a good dealer in FEEDBACK/GBU.

not that it matters but I agree with YoungGrunt, customizing to me is when you do something with the blade or handle to get better grip or performance or something like that and not just throwing on a lanyard. But to get back to topic I have to say that the lanyards looks great. I might get one in the future even though I don't use lanyards that much.

I used to be a lanyard man, now I find I remove them most of the time. The only exception is the choppers where a lanyard adds to your grip and safety. Things I hate about lanyards. The slappety slap slap on your leg, they get hung up, they get in the way, can't access the pommel for pounding.

I am still at the lanyard "training wheel" stage, hope to one day take them off as well.
Maybe in the next few months I can move on.

They are good, as you said, when it comes to chopping.

They are also good to use them to "hang" things up with so you don't lose them as well, plus with a lanyard you are not going to drop it a lose it either.

Well said! getting hung up in brush sucks!I'll only use a lanyard if chopping through 3'' or more.

I have been know to tie a lanyard or two, but I have not found them comfortable on any of my knives, but I could be doing something wrong.

Yea. Lanyards look pretty, but the only time I use them is on choppers, and even then It's just a simple paracord loop.

I've gotta vote in the 'not custom' column on this one.

I do not use lanyards at all.

only time I ever used one was on my river knife whitewater rafting. Water is a powerful thing, especially when it's restricted in a 7,000 foot deep gorge. You can't hold on to ANYTHING when the water is moving at 21,000cfm and waves are crashing around you in all directions. I put a lanyard on my knife so if I ever had to use it to cut a line that was restricting me, I would retain it if it got knocked out of my hand.
