Customizing??
Hey, I just got a Spyderco Viele (great knife, review to follow), and was wondering how hard it would be to customize the scales. I have some Koa and some Monkey Pod wood and thought that it would be amazing to make scales for this knife out of one of these woods.

So, is this knife easy to take apart (it appears to be, but don't know if they glue the scales)?
Do you all have any tips, or are there places that would do it for me? how much?
I don't have much wood working experience, but have friends that do.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Josh

If you really wanted to do it yourself it is not that hard, but you will have to cut out the scales and them shape them to the knife. Or you could have someone, like myself do it for you. I have just recently re-ahndles a damascus folder for one of my customers. It had dull dark scales and he wanted to liven up the knife so I took off the old ones and put on smooth red bone scales. He loved it!

Check out the pic on my website under the title steve's knife in the new knives folder.
