Hi all

I am really keen to send my spyderco paramilitary for a change into titanium scales and frame lock.

any ideas where I can get this done?

fairly certain that it would be very difficult to turn it into a framelock, with it being a compression lock at all. the tang of the blades should be pretty different on the two types.

It would be what Spyderco calls an "integral compression lock." I'd recommend sticking with an ordinary compression lock though, due to the mechanics of the lock.

Great suggestion. Grinding away at hardened steel might damage the heat treat, and it wouldn't take much.

Yes, good idea. You'll like it! Then you can get someone to customize the Ti Millie... (mine was done by So-Lo)

You're being hasty. I can't imagine any reason in the world not to take a $100 knife and turn it into a $1200 custom.  :D

Spyderco did do this with the ATR, which was not cheap. Having it done as a custom one-off would be tres cher. :o

One of the best at turning knives into framelocks is Reese Weiland from Florida. But like the other's have said, it will not be an easy job, and will probably be expensive. I say use the money for a titanium framelock Military. I have one and it is a GREAT piece of cutlery!!
