I rarely order pocket knives out of the US, but I wanted a few rare color handles form Otter for their K 55 Mercator line. These are normal lock back and there are no US or NY legal issues with them. They were shipped by the German Company by DHL and have been in the US Customs for review since July 30, 2023. The seller has done a tracking request and DHL confirmed they are still in review. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue before?

That's a bit longer than I would expect, but US Customs is all about the paperwork. You might be getting held up by tariff due, but I wouldn't expect that to be an issue on a couple knives. Shipping into Germany is a bit more problematic.

You may also want to inquire if DHL is going to pass the package off to USPS or UPS. That can make a difference too.

Thanks. It seems DHL is the one who handed it to the USPS who has in "in bound" for Customs since 07/30/2023. So much longer than I would have suspected...

Not to be a downer but this sounds a lot more like that knife was in a small package and it's fallen into or behind some of the machinery.

Can you ask the seller how it was packed?

No I didn't ask that yet. The company that sent it has responded quickly to all my emails. I will ask that in the next email I send them. Just wondering if others have had similar issues.

Not with knives but I have seen some big chunks of CNC metal swallowed up forever in mechanized hubs.

People would rag on Amazon for putting a small order in a big box but the bigger boxes are less likely to vanish.

Something gets stuck under a belt or bounces over the guard and it's gone.

Not to mention that it's going through DHL which absolutely sucks and it's getting passed off to the second worst USPS.

It will eventually get there but it has to go through Indiana Jones style tests first though.

Sometimes it feels like the international mailing (especially overseas) still hasn't quite recovered from the covid era.

I bought a helle from a Canadian retailer that I don't remember who ended up being the delivery company, I want to say ups.
I bring this up because the company claimed super fast shipping and it took 1.5 months to get to me. Just be prepared to wait

Thanks ! I was amazed that is is taking this long. I know some fellow collectors that get stuff shipped in all the time and it takes less then a week.
