Hey all - I'm after an EDC folder and am seriously considering:

- Kirby Lambert Blitz
- Olamic Wayfarer
- Kirby Lambert MGT

All are beautiful & well made knives but would you use them as an EDC tool? Out & about for some bushcraft?

Are they just for show?

I find that anything I don't use eventually gets sold, so if it's too pretty to use then I won't buy it. In your case, I would say that the MGT is a bit impractical due to the grind; the other two should be fine if you don't mind getting them scratched up. I wouldn't suggest any of them for bushcraft.

None of the knives you listed are for "show"...they are all "go"....

NOW....

What you consider "go"(as to your question about bushcraft) might not be reasonable for just about any folder....batonning on the wrong knife in the wrong way can be injurious.

Folders are not generally made for that kind of abuse.....other than that, you can have at it. Custom folders are great for use...used and abused a Wayfarer, a J.W. Smith Evolution, a TNT Mayo, a Crawford Leopard, a Crawford Point Guard, R.J. Martin Devastator........still working on the list...

The question is really, do you want to use a $600.00+ folder and run the risk of halving what you can sell it for down the line....if the answer is "yes", by all means, have fun!

Best Regards,

I hear you regarding the MGT due to its grind, also with any folder for out and out bushcraft such as battoning - it would be for more of an edc and a back up to the fixed blade work horses.
