Customs, What would you do?

Chris,
Keep your eyes open for the new 3.5 inch from the Busse Custom
Shop soon to be released. The one we are all still waiting for a pic of.:D Every time I think of this knife now, I think of DonL's
Mom.:o ;)

Who and which custom to buy??? One of each!!;) :D

I'm a sucker for straight handled and bird beaked Steel Hearts, mirror polished and maybe throw on a little wood:cool:

I suppose other than that, an Urgent Fury Midsize or Internal Affair (with only a 6-7" blade) could be beneficial for my bank account:D

Trace's work is excellent as is the performance. He is on my short list actually for a small, light fixed blade.

R.W. Clark makes knives that are very similar (IMO) to Trace's knives. Generally flat ground to thin, sharp edges and he also uses Bos for heat treating so you know you will get the most out of the steel. His Kydex work is also as good as it gets. At their prices, they are a steal. I have 4 and another on the way. His differentially heat treated O-1 blades are my favorite though. Cool temperline and a very aggresive cutter if you don't mind non-stainless. I have never had a problem with corrosion as I keep them rubbed down with a Tuff-Cloth. Even the neck knife is fine.

Neil Blackwood also has phenomenal blades. I have a small Hybrid model that I literally can't find a flaw on it. Might have a tough time getting one though as Neil has stopped taking orders for the meantime.

Snody's are cool as well, you just can't get them either very easily.

Can't speak for Simonich though. No experience. From what I have seen though a Cetan in S30V would seem to be an excellent carry knife.

The Busse custom shop puts out some really cool looking blades as well. Let your imagination run wild

Hope some of this helps.

I really like the look of Blackwoods stuff. Some of the other good ones that I wish I had are Kit Carson and Brad Duncan, and I wish I had more Mayos and Darrel Ralphs.

IMHO it's good to conduct your search with no preconceived ideas. Then one can narrow it down once something or things strike a nerve. Kinda like "I'll know it when I see it". Or: Anything that Danbo has is a good bet.

How about a quad grind, Zero edge, straight handled Mr Mojo, satin finished on the bottom half, and crinkled coated on the top half with serrations running the full length of the blade...oh and serrations on the top due to the double edge...

Just breathe...:p

Scary huh. I have joked that he and I should just give up and merge into one company;).
