Customs without zero edge ?

Been recently browsing Emerson customs. Up til now, i thought that all customs had a zero edge, but ive been seeing many with a secondary edge. I actually like this, since it means you can sharpen the blade without destroying the entire grind.

Anyway, could anyone enlighten me? Sorry if this is covered elsewhere or is common knowledge. New to me.

Thx.

I've only known Ernie to do zero grinds on all customs unless it was a custom request from a customer. That was probably when he was taking orders years ago. Usually there is a secondary edge from a pimper who sharpened the knife for the owner of the knife.

Thats why im baffled. I just saw a site with dozens on it appearing to be made that way. And they seem legit. Im not sure if im allowed to post the link tho.

I think I have seen a few CQC 13s and CQC 10s that have a secondary edge. Those are the only custom models I can remember that I saw a factory secondary edge on.

I think it all depends on the model, and probably Emerson's original design for the particular knife. It might even depend on how Mr. Emerson is feeling on the day he grinds blades (just a thought). One example would be the CQC-10. I've never seen a zero grind custom 10. There might be some out there, but I've never seen one. There are several other custom models I've seen pictures of that have a traditional V grind with a secondary bevel, the Combat Systems Fighter and the Commander come to mind. Most of the custom 5s, 6s, and 7s appear to be zero chisel grinds, but there have been pictures posted online of some 6s with a secondary bevel.

To confuse things even more, there are some custom models that have been done as both zero grinds and V grinds. Examples include the Roadhouse, 15, and 8.

There, I've muddied the waters a little more.
