Spent several nights changeing the angle by hand on a old cheap bucklight 422 just to see how sharp I could possible get this blade given unlimited time and effort. The results left me with a very delicate edge but so sharp it right up there with straight razors and scaples.

I was tieing some lanyards this evening and had it open on the desk, I had just used it to cut a piece of cord. I just brushed my finger tip against the blade and almost did not even feel the cut. Barely even moved the knife.

I did not think I had even managed to break the skin..... then I moved my finger, the cut opened and blood started to flow.... very deep cut. I think I need stiches. I have the bleeding stopped with a tight bandage now.

Sharp knives are cold hearted cruel creatures that do not forgive.... LOL

I've had my Sharpmaker for a few months now, but I don't want to lose my free hand sharpening skills. So a few weeks ago I got out my Sebenza, which hasn't seen much pocket time lately so it could use a touch up.

Out come the stones and strops and half an hour later it was insanely sharp. So I played around slicing freely hanging newspaper and whatever I could find. Then the phone rang and I set the knife down, still open, on my desk next to my trackball.

Sometime later I sat down at the computer and put my hand on the trackball, moved it back just a bit and felt a sting. I looked down and there was a lot of blood, then I realized that I'd left the knife sitting open there. It wasn't a deep cut but it was a bleeder. Left a nice two and half or three inch cut on the little finger side of my hand. It healed pretty quickly since it wasn't deep, but it hurt a bit the next day.

Knives aren't forgiving, but it's the stupidity of the operator that always gets you.

If you have cut down to the bone, then you need to go to a doctor. If you nicked the bone, then the bone can become infected. That's very serious because your blood is actually made inside your bones, so a bone infection can become a blood infection. And your blood goes all over your body and affects everything. So, a cut that actually touches a bone needs to be attended by a doctor every time.

See the doc for a tetnus shot, antibiotics, and stitches. Don't mess around with your hand, not worth the risk.
