I was just on their site, because one of my friends works for them and i just found that out today... but when i was looking through trying to find out shipping prices i found that it said "contact the Cutco / Ka Bar Center" im curious are these companies all a part of each other or do they just have the same building?

They are indeed manufactured in the same facilities. The Cutco knives are made by Kabar but marketed by a company called Vector.

Up until recently both cutco and kabar were owned by a parent company called Alcas Corp. Since then Alcas has changed its name to CUTCO corp. So CUTCO corp owns and manufactures both cutco and kabar. Vector is the company that markets and sells cutco.

If I remember correctly the company was founded by Alcoa and Case, hence the choice of the name Alcas.

Yes I worked for vector about 7 years ago, they drilled us on this info like a cult.

OOPS, J beat me to it while I was writing it up.

Ka-Bar and Cutco Knives are both owned by Cutco Corporation, which was formerly named, he Alcas Corporation.

Cutco Corporation, formerly Alcas Corporation, is the parent company of Cutco, KA-BAR, and Vector Marketing.

The company was founded in 1949 by Alcoa and Case Cutlery (hence "Al-cas") to manufacture knives. The management purchased the company from ALCOA in 1982 and the company acquired Vector Marketing Corporation in 1985.

In early 2009 Alcas changed its name to Cutco, the name of its primary product.
