I was sit up today at a local show and this little kid with his mom and dad come walking up to the table. He goes straight for the victorinox rally laying there in the package. He looks up and ask how much. I told him $8. He said ok its mine. Counts out the money and hands it to me. I then handed the knife to his mom who gave it to him. He had the biggest smile and you could tell he knew a thing about swiss knives. It was one of the cute moments today. Also had a kid wanting to buy a USA schrade cause that's what his grandpa carried. :D Little knife knutz in the works.

When it comes to video games and electronics and etc. they are very specific. It's not much of a surprise that they know what they want when it comes to other things. It's great that they are able to participate when it comes to knives and other traditional items. It all boils down to family values and encouragement. Thanks for the thread it gave me a boost this evening.

great to hear, we need all the people we can get to keep this hobby alive

P.S. were you selling paracord goodies too?

Yes Gene I was selling paracord and a few knives. It wasn't a great show profit wise but I didn't go negative like I did at the last so I'm happy.

At the last gun show I went to I saw a little girl walking with her father and she was proudly holding onto this old WW1 bayonet that was almost half as long as she was tall. I don't know the make or model of the bayonet in question but I thought it was just plain cute.

One of my daughters Ashley(4) has caught the bug. Whenever a package shows up she is waiting for me to open it. She has to hold it and inspect it. She knows the bolster and shield, nail nicks and rivits. I never allow her to hold one with a blade open yet and feel that traditionals are also child safe to an extent. A modern folder only has a light detent holding it closed, my 2 year old could open one no problem. She is always wanting to sit with me at the computer and look at pictures of other knives. Atleast once a day Ash brings me something to cut like clothes off a doll, string, a box for her to play with. She has it bad and I cant wait to teach her how to use them :D. Thanks for sharing your story Ash, I love hearing about kids getting involved with this hobby we all love. I am sure that SAK will see alot of use

Thanks Charlie. I bought a GEC yellow rose numbered 12 of 25 that I will most likely save for her. Her favorite color is yellow, rose is an obvious one and she was born on the 12th. She always wants to hold it, ill try to get a pic :)

Here is the knife model in training

Thanks for your stories Ash & Jeff!

Nice girl @Jeff ... maybe she´s gonna get biten by the bug when she´s old enough for knives ;)

Kind regards
Andi

Thanks Andi, even if she does not get bit I still have her interested now. Any time I can connect I will, these girls are not going to become self sufficient on their own :) They want to camp and work on dads project truck, do some gardening. I am learning early on its hard to say no to little girls lol. I am doomed.

And the passion is passed on to the next generation. Glad the parents were cool about it. Well done!

That's what I was going to comment on. Good to see the parents were helping to support something like this in today's society.

Thanks for sharing your story Ash!
