Ran across this fireman's hatchet today, made by Council Tool.
1.5 pound head, 14 inch handle, 3 inch edge.

Actually I have been looking at them ever since discovering the Council Tool site.

I've been thinking that with enough mods you could get one heck of a hatchet that would still function as an emergency tool and an awesome looking zombie killer.

Although I don't have the skills that a bunch of other folks have with modding Cold Steel's series of tomahawks. I think that the Council Tool small fireman's hatchet could be much more handy with its 1.5 pound weight... although I'm not too sure of the profile. I haven't found any reviews on that particular model. It could be kinda obtuse, much like some of my Cold Steel Tomahawks.

The Tomahawks that I have are designed to absorb abuse, not use for real woodwork without some serious grinding to thin out their profile. Even with a bunch of grinding I'm not too sure they would be better at woodwork than a decent hatchet.

Man... I just might have to order one for Christmas to figure out if I like it or not. It would round out my budding collection of hatchets and axes.
