I was doing some research on cutlasses and found an article talking about there other uses of cutting ropes and wood. does anyone know if a cutlass would make a good bush sword in shape if properly made?
also would a messer or falcion make a good bush sword?
I am not looking to run around the woods with a sword hitting things with a sword just doing some research.

The Cutlass is the original point of origins of the machete, which is basically a stripped down and simplified cutlass. So the answer is yes, they make excellent bushswords, especially when the unneeded handguard is replaced with something lighter and more practical as it is in the machete.

Yeah there are machetes out there with thickish blades - Ontario USGI .125" thick and some of the Condors with 1/8"thick blades - which are just stiff enough they could be considered swords.
