Great job Bruce, looks like a great old New Orleans style Bowie I saw in a private collection, very impressive.

Bruce-

That really sucks, you better send it to me so I can hide it away. We wouldn't want it to hurt your reputation

The NEW Grinder that Alex built for me sure does help me out alot also now I can get a real clean flat grind instead of having to fight with the platten and then hand rubbing the flats in better. Also makes it easier to get the plunge lines better,no more file and sandpaper to get them even.....Bruce

Bruce,
I am truly impressed by your work. I always thought that the fit on your blades were second to none. Now I can say the same about your grinds. Very, very nice.

Now, tell us about this grinder......when someone says no file or hand work after grinding always gets my attention.

C.L. Wilkins,What I mean is that I dont have to file the plunge lines in square and then rub the fole marks out by hand. The platen has been smoothed op on a surface grinder and the edges are beveled at 45 degree angles,It took some getting used to but it makes the plunge lines look great and when you are hand rubbing the finish on the blade you can slide up them instead of having a dead stop which can cause those little fish hooks. Also having a variable speed motor on it helps out alot, since you can slow it way down and have great control of the blade as you set the plunge lines in.On this platen you dont hve to go in with the side of the blade trying to keep things straight, all you do is after getting your flats in you just slide back to where you want the plunge lines its like you just grind the flat and bump the plunge line and hold everything flat until you get back to where everything is straight(I hope I made sense here)

I had the chance to fondle--yes fondle this beauty. I've been Bruce's student and friend for 3 years and had the pleasure of seeing him grow into a fine artist. The grinder Alex built for him is way cool, I got the chance to use it this past weekend and will have one of my own as soon as I am able. Check out his website for some real nice tutorials written for dummies like me. Keep cooking Bruce
