Hey guys! Just wanted to show off this hammer I made from an old railroad hammer. I cut the spike off and shaped the face. Then put a handle in it and added some curve to it to slightly offset the grip. Then I polished and tuned the face and there you go! I love using these hammers but they are super rare now a days. They are awesome for forging knives, bevels etc. hope y'all like.

Nice mod.

I have used old RR hammers similarly. A dog's head hammer is a nice beveling tool. With practice, you can forge to a near smooth finish.

Thanks Stacy! Yeah I noticed once I got used to hammering with this thing, my control was way better then with a standard cross peen.
