Currently I am using a bandsaw and hacksaw to cut my blades from flat bar syock.I then profile them on the sander. Is their a less time consuming way, or is this the only trusted why to ceep wetal cold?:confused Like to here other oppinions.

Before heat treating temperature is not a major concern except that overheating may harden the surface at the cut edge and make it more difficult to file. You can do no harm to the metal by overheating it at that point. After heat treating you can ruin the hemper of the steel by overheating.

Hi George,

Thanks for the reply, which method if I may ask do you use? or any other reader out their

I use a cheap little bandsaw and finish profiling with my grinder. I just finished about 25 large blades in CPM-3V and it took me about 8 hours. I pretty much wore out a bimetal bandsaw blade in the process.

what kind of belt sander do you have...I use an old bader with a 2 horse motor and nice fresh hogger belts and it eat steel very well...you need a big motor...preferably set for 220V....and plenty of speed....
