I have a slab of mammoth ivory and was wondering the best way to cut it into scales. I would be thankfull for any hints, tips, or advice on this subject.
Thank you,

A bandsaw is the best way that I have found, then all you have to do is flatten the scales and size.

CURTIS, if you have a piece of tusk, say half round, would you cut it to length first, and then to width?? Thanks! Michael
